Is this too preachy?
When young, for life you fight,
With swords, at dragon’s sight.
And when the winters go to lunch,
You learn of love and tender touch.
And give your heart in blinded faith,
But a blinded soul is hardly safe,
With broken neck and maybe more,
You lay in casts with bones so sore.
But then the sun soon peaks atop,
So you seek the wealth, pain to stop.
For you have learned that love is sour,
So bathe in gold and greet the hour.
Mine is the cycle that got you old,
Now winter comes, and with it cold.
To think you had strayed so wrong,
Why was yours, a silenced song.
Friend, life that is, so live it well,
Or dead you shall, greet my well.
I believe I could cut the last 2 lines and it would still sound complete. Not sure about the title though
I would have titled it Thinking young at heart
The first line
When you were young in life, we would fight
or
when we were young in life, we would fight.
3 rd line
And with the winter arrival , I would go for lunch
14th, line
Now that winter is here, along with that comes the cold
or
Now that winter is here, it is also cold
