What is the best PC to buy on a low budget(800$) for gaming and how long would it be able to play latest games

I am looking for a machine that can play Oblivion / HL 2 Episode 2 at a decent frame rate and with decent graphics, Or should I just opt for a PS3/Xbox and have a dedicated gaming machine for the next couple of years guaranteed to play the latest games.

id get an xbox360 or ps3
